Examen of Consciousness
The Examen of Consciousness is a gentle and prayerful way to reflect on your day in the presence of God as you enter into the rhythm of Evening Prayer. Rooted in the spiritual wisdom of Ignatius of Loyola, it invites you to slow down, look back over the day, and become more aware of where God has been present with you. Rather than analyzing or judging the day, the Examen helps you notice moments of grace, areas of struggle, and the quiet ways God has been drawing you closer.
As you move through the Examen, you are guided to give thanks, to reflect honestly, and to entrust both the joys and the burdens of the day to God. It creates space to recognize where you were attentive to His presence and where you may have turned away, always within the assurance of His mercy and care. In this way, the Examen becomes more than reflection. It becomes a daily invitation to deeper awareness, renewed trust, and a growing sensitivity to the movement of God in every part of life.
